I know a lot of you guys like that so I took a pic after ge tting the new Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015s mounted. LT 235/85R16, mmm yeah.
The truck sits noticeably higher too. At least an inch, maybe 1-1/2.
But whIle they were doing the tires they called me out to the service bay and showed me some loose ball joints, so I got new Moog parts ordered and will tear into it on Independence Day next week. Can't let worn ball joints cause feathering on my new meats!

Thanks! I figured I owed it to the truck to put new rubber on before spending a grand on an Eaton TrueTrac diff and install. Who needs 4wd, anyway? #2wdlyfe

Give your truck some new found freedom with fresh ball joints that have better freedom of movement but only when you tell them to

Nice! Ford trucks of that generation eat ball joints. It might be worthwhile to take a look at the radius arm bushings while you're there.

Was there ever another truck that had 85 series tires? I’ve only known those to be on Fords. Looks good and stock just like it’s meant to be!

I’ve heard of Land Rover Defenders using 85 series tires, n0t sure if they are OEM specified though.

Looks like second-gen Rams used 235/85R16.

Werd. I’ve got 16 Chicago winter s and counting in 2wd pickups. 12 of them so far in this truck.

The equation to me is similar to that of a CUV vs a minivan: how often would I actually
use
4wd in a pickup truck? Maybe once a year? I don’t use mine to plow snow or go through mud bogs, or navigate technical off-road trails. About the most traction-challenged my truck gets is sliding on wet grass trying to ascend a hilly back yard. A rear torsen diff (in conjunction with good rubber) should handle that and the occasional washed-out gravel/dirt road
just fine.

Our Nissan Patrol runs them now that 7.50R16 tyres are getting thin on the ground. They also go under some specs of 75 series Land Cruiser from factory.

I would pop off the hubcaps and give the steel wheels a lick of paint, same color as the truck for that vintage look. Like what Jeep does with their Moab concepts.

I actually only have one hubcap remaining, I really should just leave it off.
I think the wheels are a very light grey color, it wouldn’t be too hard to paint them white to match the truck better. I kinda like the light grey though, they give the truck a very anonymous look.

Short and fat looks good too.
That gen F-Series is just plain good looking by itself.

No way! I thought I had the smallest with the 245/75/16s. Those looked like milk bottle caps on a big truck.

I have 215/85/16 Khumo Road Ventures on my Range Rover, they are super skinny and tall. I got an extra inch under the diffs when they went on.

agreed, they really got it right for the ‘92-’96/’97 models with that front fascia and headlights.

Nope. Australia. It is a very cool truck. It’ll be better this time next week with new springs, shocks, steering damper and a wheel alignment...

Awesome! Looks like fun. What is with all the flatbeds down under? I feel like I rarely see a traditional OEM style pickup bed.

They’re far far more practical, having a larger floor area than a tub. Easily loaded and unloaded from all sides either by hand or by forklift . This is especially the case for vehicles with taller suspension. The trays are stronger and components easily repaired or replaced in the event of damage too . In the end, these things are tools first and toys second.
